Fresh from the Hungarian underworld we have summoned analog alchemist Chainsaw Yoga. ‘Building’ takes the next step in the evolution of ambient glitch and turns away from the harshness of digital, favoring more natural dwellings in these persistent, exploratory ventures. This is KoF’s debut release, and a real noise-fest at that. It’s obvious the focus for this EP is based on sampled news broadcasts that have been creatively butchered in all manner of possibilities. For me, this is a good example of sculpting and nurturing raw sound sources into a completed product (even a decidedly harsh one!). KoF’s stated software appears to be minimal: “Audacity, Usine, and various tools for phonetic manipulation.” Best listened to with (or as a replacement for) a strong cup of coffee.
